Hair on a monday morning.

I would love to have hairdo's like these on a monday morning. So effortless & chic. Only problem is, I don't have a personal hairstylist, and that is probably required to do these "effortless" looks on a monday morning, 7 a.m.

The two first pics are from stockholm streetstyle, but i'm not sure where I found the last one..

Give me some lovin'

I'm on bloglovin now.

I don't know the name of this color.

But I love every shade of it. Maybe it could be called shades of muted khaki mint green? Suggestions are welcome. Anyway I already have a top, a silk blouse and a dress in this color and I'm still craving more. I think this might be the kind of trend that I get stuck in, and will hold on to season after season until it eventually becomes retro to wear it..

The color looks so beautiful with black and gold.

Perfection.

I want leather shorts. Not too tight, not too loose. Not too thick, they need to be soft. And black.

I would pair them with white, light blue, or maybe very soft shades of green, pink or grey. Now I just need to find a pair.

Wardrobe essentials: The oversized blazer

Whatever it's called (oversized, boyfriend etc), it's an important essential in my (and in anyones) wardrobe. It can work as a blazer, obviously, but also as a coat. It can dress down an elegant outfit or dress up a casual one.

I love wearing it with tight, light colored jeans, heels and a t-shirt, but it works really well with short feminine dresses too. When buying one, make sure it fits. If it is too large, you’ll end up looking like you’ve dropped in from the 80’s (especially watch out for too broad shoulders). If it’s too small you’ll look ridiculous. Also, because it’s a wardrobe essential, it’s smart to look for a style that is classic and not too large, and make sure it's not made from a cheap or a super trendy material.

Black is always a safe, and also perhaps the best choice since it will work with all the trendy and unique stuff you otherwise have in your wardrobe. Be careful with wearing other loose fitting clothes with it, or you’ll end up looking bulky. Also watch out for combining it with other strong masculine clothes, unless you are going for a very manly look on purpose.

Simple is good.

Blue jeans & a white shirt or top can be a stunning combination.

Not sure from which site I found the pics, they were just laying around in my inspiration folder on my computer.

Wardrobe essentials

I’ve decided to do a series of posts about wardrobe essentials. The essentials I’m going to present here later are the ones that I consider important, so I might leave out things you’d consider essential, and mention things that you find irrelevant. These are however going to be those that work well for me.

It’s actually hard to build up a good wardrobe. Even though you buy only beautiful things you love to wear, it might be difficult to create an outfit of them, every single morning. Obviously most of us do not work with fashion, and can’t wear anything and everything at the same time. So mixing interesting pieces into your daily style may be a challenge. Thus you need wardrobe essentials: Things that work as a skeleton, if you will, holding everything else (all the trend pieces and interesting stuff) together.

I’m really not extreme in my way of dressing and I do skip a lot of trends, not because they are trends but because I simply don’t like them or I won’t be able to use them regularly. Other trends I fall for. Hard. And I won’t stop using them no matter how last season(s) they are. But I’m getting beside the point here. To be able to enjoy trends, you need wardrobe essentials. But beware! Wardrobe essentials are also influenced by trends, so when shopping or evaluating these, be sure to think about whether they are classic enough, whether you’ll be able to use them ‘til they fall apart. Also, be extra careful about the material and the fit.
I'm going to post the first wardrobe essential here soon!

My heart just skipped a beat.

So there I am, eating breakfast while killing time on the internet. But then my heart skipped a beat. Or maybe it completely stopped for a while. This is the most perfect and beautiful outfit I’ve seen that includes boyfriend jeans. I really have no words.

And the best part is, I have similar jeans, jacket, sunglasses, belt and silk tshirt (why don’t I have a glitter clutch? Why? I need to get a glitter clutch!). In fact, I decided immediately that I was gonna try this look tomorrow, but without the glitter clutch (why don't i have one?) and then black, feminine ankelboots instead because it’s still so cold here.

Oh, and did you see the clutch?!

Something happened on my way home.

I really don't have room for more clothes, but I did convince myself (while buying these) to move out of my wardrobe stuff that I don't use anymore. I have become better at it lately (probably due to certain restrictions in space)..  Anyway, so what did I end up with?

A pair of faded and "worn look" jeans from Tiger of Sweden, a minty light green top from Zara, and the most beautiful silk scarf I think I've ever seen in my whole life, also from Tiger of Sweden (it does have a Missoni feel to it here in the picture, but it's actually a peacock feather style pattern, I'll take a better photo of it later).

At ease.

I really like this editorial that I found in my inspiration folder on my computer. There's a feeling of comfort and ease in it.

From: Cosmopolitan uk January 2012, I don't remember from which site I got the pictures.

What i'm wearing today.

This, in a nutshell, is what i'm wearing today. Since I'm not crazy about wearing bright colours (I'm working on it!) I decided to spice things up with a bright nailpolish. I'm at work about five days a weak right now, which means that I need to wear nice clothes. We have a very free clothes policy at work, so I can wear pretty much whatever I want to, as long as it is appropriate.

A woman’s relationship with her wardrobe is one of the most important in her life.

This is not true. But it is not entirely false either. Whether we like it or not, our appearance tells us something about whom we are. Not caring about your appearance may actually be the strongest statement you can make without saying a word. Still, fashion and appearance is not only about making a statement, it is also an escape. And it’s love. For me, fashion and style has become a hobby, but a private one (until now). What I study and what I work with centers around other people’s wellbeing. I love it, but it can be heavy and demanding too. Talking about nail polish and reading fashion magazines has become a break for me, to escape for a while (to be honest, running is maybe the most important way for me to take a break from life, but fashion comes as a close second).
So what about the relationship that you have with your wardrobe? I believe the clothes you wear should make you happy, confident and at ease. Let them support who you are or take you out for an adventure. After years of thinking about doing something with my “escaping from reality” (which has led to no space in my wardrobes what so ever, and even less space in my mac due to enormous amounts of inspirational photos in several folders), I’ve decided to open a blog. How original you might think, and I couldn’t agree more. It’s not. But it was a completely spur of the moment thing (in the middle of the night I might add) and now that I’m stuck with a blog I might as well do something about it! Mostly this blog is for me, my adventure and my escape from reality. However, I’m happy if someone else finds this interesting. Welcome!
